The brief history of Jake is as follows: California Beach Lifeguard, Trapeze artist, Barista, Bar creator/owner, Paramount Pictures Executive, Photographer, Farmer, Wine Maker, Barista Trainer, Roaster, Cafe Designer, Owner Tribe Coffee. At 21 years old he created the world famous Map Room in Chicago and from there was in and out of the hospitality business until, on the 20th of October 2010, with R40 and 25 kg of coffee, he started Tribe Coffee Roasting. He has designed over 15 cafe’s for Food Lover’s Market in southern Africa, and operates a cafe and restaurant in Cape Town. He has helped to open more than a 100 other cafes. Tribe Coffee Roasting is a world recognised roaster and cafe brand.
