CVA FOR CUPPERS WITH AFCA

The African Fine Coffees Association (AFCA) is thrilled to announce that we are partnering with the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) and SCA Authorized Trainers (ASTs) to offer the CVA for Cuppers Course at an exclusive rate for AFCA members. Courses will initially be offered in Ethiopia and Uganda, with additional dates and locations to be announced.

About the Course

The Coffee Value Assessment (CVA) for Cuppers Course is a two-day professional development program designed for cuppers and quality professionals who want to deepen their understanding of the Specialty Coffee Association’s new Coffee Value Assessment (CVA) system.

This hands-on course introduces participants to the latest CVA tools used to evaluate coffee quality and value. Through lectures, discussions, and multiple cupping sessions, participants will:

  • Learn to identify and apply new CVA sensory references
  • Understand and use key sensory assessment tools including 15-point intensity scales, CATA lists, and hedonic scales
  • Practice using CVA Descriptive and Affective Forms
Gain confidence in the descriptive, affective, and extrinsic components of the updated CVA system

Who is it for?

The course is open to all coffee professionals. However, it is especially critical for current and expired Q Graders—this course is your path to transitioning into the new Evolved Q Grader Program.

Participants must complete four assessments (written exam, olfactory identification, descriptive assessment, and affective assessment). Upon successful completion, you will receive a certificate of acknowledgement from the SCA.

How to Register

To secure your participation, please fill out the Online Registration Form for your preferred country (see below) and complete payment within five days of your preferred course dates. Date options for each country are available in the registration forms.
