Mzuzu Coffee Planters Cooperative Union has six members from six coffee primary cooperative societies (Misuku, Phoka, Viphya, Nkhata-bay, S. E. Mzimba) in the Northern Region and Ntchisi in the Central Region.

Mzuzu coffee brand is one of the best specialty coffee brands uniquely placed all over the world. Over the years, Mzuzu coffee has been a master in smallholder coffee business and has successfully introduced coffee growing in Ntchisi and Ntcheu and given mandate, it can do so in other areas of the country. Coffee, unlike tobacco, promotes diversification of tree crops and multipurpose trees and has helped to restore the environment.

Apart from generating foreign currency, Mzuzu coffee provides a livelihood for over 15,000 households. The poverty and illiteracy levels are one of the lowest in coffee areas. Mzuzu Coffee Planters Cooperative Union is a member of African Fine Coffee Association (AFCA). Currently Mackson D.K Ng’ambi is the Malawi Chapter Chair.
