MAIN AREAS OF ACTIVITIES

The main business of the association is to lobby for an environment that is conducive for the production, processing and marketing of quality coffee. In addition, the association develops projects for implementation aimed at addressing the needs of its members in partnership with development partners and industry actors with similar or complimentary mandates.

HISTORY OF KCPA

The organization of coffee producers started in 1934 as Kenya Coffee Association (KCA) to take care of the interests of white colonial coffee farmers in 1960. The Association later became known as Kenya Coffee Growers Association (KCGA) by which time the Africans had been allowed to grow coffee. The Association was strong and instrumental in lobbying for a favourable environment for coffee farmers to thrive and presided over the times of boom in 1970s and 1980s.
